In General
Self Defence – Men women and children need to be able to defend themselves if the need arises. In Tae Kwon-Do we develop the technique of unarmed combat for self-defence, utilising the skilled application of punches, kicks, blocks, dodges and restraints.
Self Confidence – Having the ability to defend yourself makes you a more confident person, in all facets of life. Tae Kwon-Do is about self improvement, not just physically but mentally also. Tae Kwon-Do helps build a level of self confidence that you will not find in any other form of exercise. Through training in Tae Kwon-Do you will develop the skills to defend yourself. You will become fitter and more focused through training in Tae Kwon-Do.
Padwork – The techniques that you learn will be practised against pads, which will help develop good technique, power, co-ordination, timing and also increase your reaction times and stamina.
Flexibility – During each class you will perform stretching exercises. These exercises will help develop not only your flexibility but will also improve your mobility.
Fitness – In Tae Kwon-Do you’ll learn to stretch and exercise nearly every muscle group in your body. That aspect alone distinguishes Tae Kwon-Do from other forms of physical activity. The emphasis is on improved concentration, fitness and self-control. To develop these skils you’ll exercise your mind as much as your body.
Tae Kwon-Do will improve your fitness in measurable amounts i.e. 5 press ups instead of 2, 10 sit ups instead of what you could do before.
